Since recently, there has been a surge of RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus), Flu and Covid, we recommend for all children and adults to receive their flu and covid vaccines, and to receive the new Covid Bivalanet booster if they are eligible. We offer the flu vaccine and Pfizer Covid vaccine to all our patients and their parents.
This is also a great time to schedule for your child’s regular physicals and sports physicals to update him/her on any vaccines or other needs. We also have this season’s flu vaccine available for all children 6 months and above.
If you are planning to travel overseas, please call our office to schedule a travel visit 3 to 4 weeks before you leave.
As we continue to vaccinate all children ages 6 months and up, there are new bivalent booster vaccines available.
Individuals 5 years of age and older are eligible for a single Bivalent booster dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine, if it has been at least two months since they completed primary series or a booster vaccination
The FDA Commissioner said “As we head into fall and begin to spend more time indoors, we strongly encourage anyone who is eligible to consider receiving a booster dose with a bivalent COVID-19 vaccine to provide better protection against currently circulating variants. The public can be assured that a great deal of care has been taken by the FDA to ensure that these bivalent COVID-19 vaccines meet our rigorous safety, effectiveness and manufacturing quality standards for emergency use authorization.”
Among the study participants who received the bivalent vaccine, the most commonly reported side effects included pain, redness and swelling at the injection site, fatigue, headache, muscle pain, chills, joint pain and fever.
The FDA also revised the EUA of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine to remove the use of the monovalent vaccines for booster administration for individuals 5 years of age and older. These monovalent vaccines continue to be authorized for use for administration of a primary series for individuals 6 months of age and older as described in the letters of authorization.
Please call our office at 510-797-7766 to schedule for your child’s COVID-19 vaccine, or for any other appointments or questions you may have.
